Further uses of SSNAP data

Quality Improvement and SSNAP

It is anticipated that SSNAP will be used as a platform to initiate QI projects at local, regional and national level. SSNAP has developed a stand-alone area on the website to host templates, resources and examples of effective QI projects which have been made possible by the use of SSNAP data. More information on QI and SSNAP is available here

Research and SSNAP

There has been an abundance of important far reaching stroke research completed in recent years using the robust SSNAP data available. A 'Research' section of the web tool has been designed to highlight and showcase the posters, presentations and papers which have used SSNAP data. Guidance for how to apply for SSNAP data is also provided here

Health Economics and SSNAP

In 2015 the SSNAP team, in collaboration with NHS England, pursued an ambitious research project to derive and report patient-level estimates on the cost of stroke care. Using SSNAP data as well as other sources was possible to estimate the health and social care cost of stroke up to 5 years after admission. Interactive tools  were also created for use at local level to estimate the potential cost savings achievable depending on the percentage of patients thrombolysed or discharged with specialist early supported discharge (ESD) services. These important data should be of interest to everyone with a professional interest in stroke.
